Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell is a former panelist, as well as host of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. She traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times to summits and debate topics such as and the Iran Contra scandal.
